Why a workspace and not a progress bar
A single assistant answering one question at a time is the easy thing to build and the least useful. Real work has several threads in it: something is being researched while something else is being tidied while a third thing waits on a file. Agent Town exists because that is the shape of an afternoon, and a chat window cannot hold it.
What to give it
Jobs with a clear finish line work best - go through this folder, pull these figures together, watch for this and tell me. Vague jobs come back vague, which is true of people too.
Honest limits
Agents use your model provider, so a long job is a job that spends your provider credit. They also share one computer, so two agents both wanting the mouse will take turns. And a job that needs a decision only you can make will stop and ask, which is the behaviour you want.
How many can run at once?
Enough for ordinary use, and the practical limit is your provider's rate limit and your PC rather than a number we set.
Do agents keep working when I close Caelia?
No. They live in the application, so closing it stops them.
Does this cost more?
Not from us - it is part of the licence. It does use your model provider, and more work means more of their usage.
